History of Fish and Game / Snow Clubs

Posted by on Jan 5, 2015 in Club News | Comments Off on History of Fish and Game / Snow Clubs

2014 has certainly been an exciting year for me as the President of the Kenogamisis Fish and Game as well as the Geraldton Snow Club. We had overwhelming support for both the Geraldton and Longlac snow clubs. This tells me that we are appreciated for all the hard work our volunteers do for our clubs, despite some of the challenges we are faced with at times. The Geraldton Walleye Classic was another success this year and we are already working at making 2015 and other great event. I was also pleased with all the work we did to put together...

Snow Clubs updates Dec 22.2014

Posted by on Dec 22, 2014 in Club News | Comments Off on Snow Clubs updates Dec 22.2014

Our season started off well, general maintenance of our groomers was good, we had snow earlier this year, permit sales were there. Overall, things were looking pretty good to start our 2014 /2015 winter snowmobiling season! The Geraldton Snow Club put in a beautiful Christmas float this year, and Longlac Snow Club started grooming trails. But as our clubs history shows, there’s always the unexpected to expect! Such was the case for the Geraldton Snow Club over the last two weeks. As I was heading to Longlac with the Groomer, packing the trail...

Time Flies

Posted by on Nov 25, 2014 in Club News | Comments Off on Time Flies

How time flies!   December 1st is only a few day away! Even with snow on the ground, for some reason it feels that fall has flown by quickly this year. Needless to say, both the Longlac Snow Club and Geraldton Snow club are pretty much ready for this winter. Grooming will be starting much earlier this year thanks to the early snow falls we’ve had. It sure would have been nice to get a quarter of the snow Buffalo got, but I’m sure we will get our share this winter anyway. We just need a few good days of solid cold weather to really freeze up...

“Volunteer”….., that’s a pretty heavy word when you live in our small communities. In return, this activity can produce a feeling of self-worth and respect. There is no financial gain involved for the individual. Volunteering is also renowned for skill development, socialization, and fun. Volunteering may have positive benefits for the volunteer as well as for the person or...

Groomer repairs starting early this year!

Posted by on Oct 8, 2014 in Club News | Comments Off on Groomer repairs starting early this year!

Earlier this fall we brought the Geraldton Groomer, to the Groomer Doctor to diagnose a hydraulic issues. For the pass few years our Groomer was feeling fatigue and wasn’t preforming to it normal standards. Some basic trouble shouting was done but more was needed in order to pin point the problem. This Groomer is operated on a very complex hydraulic system, a little too complicated for me to figure out. This week, these fear have come through, the hydraulic pump is done! So It’s been sent to Thunder Bay for an overhaul. A new pump is $13 000...

Posted by on Oct 8, 2014 in Club News | Comments Off on Permits on Sale!

I’m not going to lie, you know I’m pretty excited for what could be a very good winter for us. All indications  point to a cold winter with plenty of snow, a  perfect combination for us snowmobilers.  The almanac, the weather forecaster, the local elders all support this theory and the way things have been so far, all of this may be true! Permits are now on sale online as of Oct 1.2014  www.ofsc.on.ca last year we had a great response to this deal that the OFSC was providing us. $180 prior to November 1.2014. We are encouraged by the talk...
